It's hard actually to find the suitable photo for this week's theme...but I finally came out with some pictures from my older photo collection...These pictures were taken on my Course Nite for second and final semester of my bachelor degree a few years ago...Everyone will dress up very nicely, trying to match with the theme on that day...

So these are some photos of my funky friends during our coursenite...

I really miss those times....

I also have another photo which I think will match the theme...This is called the 'King of Fruit' or 'durian'...It's delicious, but some people just can't tolerate the 'funky' smell...The smell is very strong and if you brought a durian into your home, the smell will be there for a few days and even your neighbour can smell it...but I like it...so delicious...and 'funky'... =)

My entry for this week is 'the art of Hantaran'...'hantaran' is the gifts that a bride @ groom gives to his @ her partner on their wedding day...usually we will use the fruits, clothes, shoes, cakes, and beauty products as the hantaran...all the gift will be arranged and decorated nicely...enjoy the photos of some hantaran that i captured during my cousin's wedding..

this week's theme for photohunter is cooked/ing...this picture was taken during hari raya last year...this is what we call 'lemang'...it is usually served during festive season...this is malay's traditional dish...

a 'lemang' is glutinous rice mixed with coconut milk and cooked in bamboo stick...the process of cooking lemangs is quite difficult as we hv to bake the lemang using lots of wood...during the process of baking lemang, we hv to make sure that the fire is just nice or our lemang will be overcooked @ not cooked...usually all my family members will gather at my grandmother's house a day before raya to cook lemang...

it is a moment that we are waiting for every year...all the ladies will help to wash the glutinous rice, open up coconut, and squeeze out the coconut milk while all the men will be out, getting the firewood, and taking care of the fire...it's a lot of work and we are doing this while fasting...after a long day, then comes the time that we are waiting for...we will break fast together and divide the lemang...oh...how i miss those days...

This picture was taken during my trip to Awana Kijal...it reminds me of my childhood days when we used to play our traditional games...back then, there was no internet, ps2, psp, etc...so, we always end up playing this traditional game...

this is called a 'congkak'...it's usually played by the girls since it can be played indoor...the hole on the wood will be filled with marbles @ stones...each hole containes 7 marbles @ stones...



'congkak' is played by two players simultaneously...on the first round, the two players will start the move together until one of the player is 'dead'...a player is considered 'dead' when his/her last 'buah' (the marbles @ stones...) end up in an empty hole...when a player is 'dead', the other player will take turn until he/she is 'dead'...the winner will be the ones with more stones in the 'ibu'...(an 'ibu' is the last hole at both ends of the 'congkak'...) it represents the amount of 'buah' a player has...

A player can also get more 'buah' by taking the other player's 'buah'...it is called 'tikam'...this only happens when a player end up in an empty hole, but at the opposite of the hole, (that is the other player's hole), is filled with 'buah'...all the buah than hv been 'tikam' by a player will be put into the 'ibu'...usually this game will end when one of the player didn't hv enough 'buah' to even make a hole...

This week's theme is 'rare'...this is the picture of a newly emerged river terrapin or Batagur baska...It was taken at Dungun River, Terengganu...

for information, this river terrapin @ tuntung sungai in Malay, can only be found in India, Bangladesh, Peninsular Malaysia, Thailand, Sumatra, and Cambodia...it has been listed as Critically Endangered species in the IUCN Red List..this species is 'rarely' seen in wild now...i am soo lucky because i have the opportunity to work with this species..some of the people outside don't even know how this terrapin or tuntung look like...
